The Impact of 3rd Party Delivery Services.

You knock off work, you’re tired the last thing you want to do is cook.

You whip out your phone, couple of taps and a mere 20 minutes later you have a meal delivered to your door.

It’s super convenient BUT the impacts run deep….real deep.

The scenario above is what a consumer experiences now I can give you a raw authentic experience into what we as a restaurant experience…..

$100 order comes into the system, Great! A big order that we can put towards our bills. BUT we don’t exactly get $100

From your $100 order we only get $65 once the delivery company takes their cut of 35%.

From 65% of the money we receive we’re still left with 100% of the bills.

100% of our rent bill, wages, insurance, gas, electricity, cleaning chemicals, software bills BUT only 65% of the money to cover it see the issue?

Not only a monetary issue on our end but the issues run deeper. The driver’s are all contractors who do this predominantly as a side gig. They don’t care about you or us. We hand over an order WHO KNOWS what they do with it.

They can take their sweet ass time getting to you. They can pocket the drink. They can be rough with the order. No way to tell.

You open up your crap meal who do you blame? Well my food is crap so must be the restaurants fault…right?

This has been a pain in our asses for a long long long time now and it’s a tough one.

I’m sure the question screaming in your mind is “Why don’t you leave the platforms”

You’re doomed with em and doomed without em. Let me explain….

With em’ you’re giving up a big chunk of your cash

So on the flip side, we turn off the platforms… Now we lost a chunk of that money that comes through from them.

“But won’t customers just come in and order if they can’t get it delivered”

Not quite…. If you’re after something delivered quickly you’re in that mindset and let’s put it this way you’re a bit CBF to get up and come down (for the majority of people)

Majority of restaurants have an online ordering system on their website these days. The next time you chose to order we encourage you to go straight through to the restaurant as often as you can as the support is much greater this way than through Uber Eats.
